Experimenting with AI Image Generation

I had the opportunity to use a friends computer (which is much faster than mine) to experiment with AI Image Generation yesterday! Using a MacBook Pro M4 and ComfyUI I was able to create images based on text prompts.

“Why”, I here you ask, “is this so special? ChatGPT can do this for you too right?”. That is all true! But with this software you can use your own computer to generate them so you don’t need an external service for that.

Of course it has its limitations. I will list a few here:

Generating images on your own computer can be much slower than using ChatGPT or similar service
The models that generate the images are much simpler (and hence not as powerful) as the commercial ones
You need more knowledge on how to use the software.

I am just starting out but here are some samples (just followed a tutorial so probably better things can be made):
